Ðức cha John V Taylor giúp tôi ý thức hai điều: 1/sự thiếu sót của tôi trong việc chú tâm nhìn xem và lắng nghe, và 2/lòng quảng đại của Thiên Chúa.

Người mù Bác-ti-mê đã kêu lên "Lạy ông Giêsu xin dủ lòng thương tôi ... xin cho tôi nhìn thấy được." (Mc 10:46-51). Nhìn thấy được là một qùa tặng của Thiên Chúa. Nhất là nhìn với con mắt đức tin, nhìn với con mắt nội tâm. Nói như Ðức cha Taylor là có "the sense of beyondness at the heart of things".

Thomas Merton viết một cách giản dị:
"Open your eyes and see" ...
... "It is good and praiseworthy
to look at some real created thing
and to feel and appreciate its reality.
Just let the reality of what is real sink into you"
